Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Benefits
Computer Numerical Control (CNC¹) is the digital language used to co-ordinate the functions of highly precise machine tools utilised in many production environments. Metal Fabrication benefits greatly from CNC Laser, Punching and Bending machines used to produce precise, high-quality metal parts and components. With the latest in CNC technology, Alumac can fabricate metal products faster and with greater accuracy and control.
How we use it
CNC technology is utilised in metal fabrication process involving several steps:
- First, a designer creates a 3D digital model of the metal project using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- This model is then translated into machine-readable code using computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software.
- The code is then sent to the various CNC machinery (Laser Cutting, Punching or Bending machines) which use the instructions to precisely cut, punch, bend, radius form, crush and shape the metal.
Benefits
One of the key benefits of CNC metal processing is its high degree of accuracy. Computer-controlled machines perform precise movements very quickly with a high degree of repeatability. This means we can produce duplicate parts and components with minimal variation, resulting in consistent quality and performance.
In addition to efficiency and precision, CNC systems used in metal fabrication also offer greater design flexibility. With CAD software, our designers can create complex, intricate parts and components that would be difficult or impossible to produce without the latest CNC equipment. This opens up new possibilities for metal product design and innovation.
Another benefit of utilising CNC systems is versatility. Our CNC machines can work with a wide variety of metals, including aluminium, steel, titanium, and brass, among others. This allows us to produce metal parts and projects for a range of industries, from rail and automotive to medical devices and consumer electronics.
Our equipment
Arguably one of the most technically advanced Sheet Metal bending systems available, is our Amada HG1303. Featuring off-line programming on “Sheetworks” 3d modelling software, we seamlessly transfer bending files to this “state of the art” Press Brake for processing utilising it’s in built automatic bend angle sensing and automatic compensation via bluetooth linked DIGIPRO precision angle measurement device.
Our in-house capabilities include fabrication, cut and fold up to 4000mm x 2000mm (4m x 2m) lengths of metal.
What we can bend, cut or fold
We bend cut and fold many metals including:
- Brass
- Copper
- Carbon Steel
- Stainless Steel
- Aluminium
- and more
Summary
In summary, computer numerical control (CNC) is the system that drives highly efficient and precise machine tools utilised in the manufacturing of high-quality metal parts. With its accuracy, efficiency, flexibility, and versatility, the latest in CNC metal fabrication capability is a valuable tool for improving productivity, quality, and innovation in metal manufacturing.
